From 4 to 6 June 2026 the Univerisity of Trento will host two study days dedicated to song and dance in popular devotion, with a special focus on traditions beyond the use of Latin. The initiative takes place within the framework of the Laudare project and approaches these themes primarily from an ethnomusicological perspective.

Because Laudare brings together an interdisciplinary team, contributions from scholars in other fields are also welcome. The event encourages proposals from those who have studied devotional singing in vernacular languages, or forms of dance, that can shed light on these practices and open new paths of dialogue between contemporary traditions and the lauda before and after the Council of Trent.

Proposals should be sent to cantarlaude@gmail.com by 31 January 2026.
