On March 12, 2026, the University of Trento hosts a seminar dedicated to the transition between ecclesiastical traditions and humanist innovations in music. Organized under the ERC AdG LAUDARE project (PI Prof. Francesco Zimei), the event brings together leading scholars to discuss the evolution of musical education.

The program begins at 11:00 AM with an introduction by Agnese Bee, followed by a session featuring Marco Gozzi (Univ. of Trento) and Mariarosa Cortesi (Univ. of Pavia). They will explore the relationship between historical masters and their subjects within the shifting intellectual climate of the Renaissance.

The second part of the morning focuses on the 2025 critical edition of Giovanni Gallico’s Ritus canendi. Presented by Giacomo Pirani, the session concludes with a discussion led by Francesco Zimei, highlighting new research trajectories within the field of historical musicology.
